We made a lot of progress in our learning and working together this week. We started learning about volleyball in PE and have practiced our bumps, sets, and serves so far. We played a game and used teamwork and encouraging words. We look forward to continuing this next week.  Students are sharing their learning and comprehension of Chasing Vermeer through a project that involves drawing and writing about a particular character and their contribution to the plot. To do this, we have had to look back at jot notes made during the story, as well as collaborate with our partners.  Learning Intentions: Grade 3: I can describe the geometric properties of regular and irregular polygons.   January 23, 2026 It was a busy week of learning that included TRS Family Friday, Buddies, and our last Alien Inline session. The authors of grade ¾ have been working hard on their Northern Alphabet writing and can't wait to share it with you this weekend.  Today students brought home their Northern Alphabet writing pieces as well as a rubric. Take some time to read their story with them and find where they are on our rubric. Everyone worked very hard and should be proud of their work. We finished reading Chasing Vermeer today and wow!- we are shocked after reading the conclusion. It was a fun journey this week as we were left with a cliff hanger several times. I can investigate words or phrases applied creatively in poetry. Grade 4: I can experiment with creating verse and free verse. We continued l...

January 9, 2026 It has been great to come together again as class, to share stories of our breaks, and settle back into routines this week. We worked on completing many of our projects from before the break, including our Northern Alphabet creative writing project and the accompanying art piece. We finished the art this morning and they are beautiful.  Learning Intentions: Grade 3: I can use cursive handwriting to write some texts with appropriate letter formation, size, proportion, and slant. Grade 4: I can use cursive handwriting to write some texts with appropriate letter formation, size, proportion, and slant. We briefly began exploring cursive writing during morning work time, and will continue next week. This gives a different creative opportunity to share ideas and express ourselves.  We are making our way through Chasing Vermeer and things are getting very interesting as we try to solve the mystery within. We had time to explore some challenges with our pentomino set...
