Hello Grade ¾ families,

It was great to be back together again as a classroom community. We have been settling back into our routines and have been happy to see each other again.

We spent time reviewing our learning of place value and representations of numbers during this short week. We reviewed it by playing a Jeopardy game. We also did a little bit of graphing today. Grade 4’s will be continuing to engage with decimals up to the hundredths place throughout the year, and Grade 3’s are continuing to master place value representations up to 100,000. Next, we will be moving into strategies for addition.

During our literacy time we continued our learning about the differences between fiction and non-fiction as we investigated vampire bats. We discussed how non-fiction texts, including videos, provide real information and use accurate pictures. This morning we had to create a top secret monster, and then use descriptive language to write and share about our monster to a partner as they attempted to draw it. It was amazing to see how some of our partners were able to draw a replica of our monster using just our description!
