December 19, 2025  Learning Intentions: Grade 3: I can investigate oral traditions that have been shared over time. I can discuss how oral stories show respect for traditional shared knowledge. Grade 4: I can describe personal connections to spirit, land, the universe, time, or people revealed through oral traditions. I can discuss protocols used to share oral traditions. We had a beautiful week of learning as we explored the meaning of the upcoming Winter Solstice. We have been tracking the seasons and months of the year on our class holistic framework and added the Solstice as a significant event this week. We were fortunate to have a visit from Knowledge Keeper Sandra Manyfeathers on Wednesday. We gathered with her in the library and respectfully listened to traditional Blackfoot stories and learned more about the Solstice.   December 12, 2025 Hello ¾ families, Learning Intentions: Grade 3: I can investigate words or phrases applied creatively in poetry I can examine words or phrases applied creatively in poetry I can experiment with creating haikus I can distinguish syllables in words Grade 4: I can investigate figurative language used in imaginative ways I can examine how a variety of poetic structures contribute to creative expression of ideas I can infer cause and effect relationships in texts I can make inferences in texts that reach beyond personal experiences Our literacy time this week was busy as we made progress in our read aloud, Chasing Vermeer . Students have been listening for clues to solve the mystery in the story. While doing this, we are practicing taking our “jot notes”. Students have been working on identifying the story’s problem, plot, and character traits as we make our way through. We are focusing on making predictions and connecting clues as we put our literacy skills to use...

  December 5, 2025 Hello Room 2 families, It was a full week of learning in Grade ¾. We are continuing to try our best each day as we get into routines. During science time, Grade 4s have been working hard on their waste management presentations and have shown perseverance as they adjust to feedback each day. These will conclude with a self-assessment early next week. Green Team is in full swing, with a new classmate assigned each week to this leadership opportunity. Grade 3s have continued their states of matter learning with Mr. Chalk and have created a joint presentation as they learn to navigate the Google Classroom. They have been exploring freezing and boiling points, and using their number sense to compare and contrast these science facts.
