A big thank you to everyone who came out for Student-Led Conferences last night. I am so proud of how the students shared their learning with enthusiasm and joy. They have been working very hard and it shows.


We had a fantastic time at Ski School on Tuesday. Students in Grade 4 got out there with a positive attitude and did their best. Thank you to the volunteers for dedicating their time and to everyone who helped make the day a success.


We have been making our way through a new read aloud in Room 2. It is called The Great Pet Heist. So far, we have met an interesting cast of characters who are facing a challenge in their apartment. We are focusing on characters and their traits as we begin this novel study. 


Our science projects and study of Earth Systems are taking form. Students are refining their research skills, working on finding appropriate sources, and extracting information that is relevant. Grade 3s have chosen a natural event to learn more about, and Grade 4s are diving into the spheres of the Earth. 


Ways to Continue Learning at Home:

  • Have your Grade 3 student model multiplication and division by using dominoes. One side of the domino represents the number of groups and the other side represents how much is in a group.

  • Have your Grade 4 student identify quadrilaterals and triangles at home. Focus on using geometric terms to describe these shapes.

We had a busy week, welcoming the Fall Equinox, enjoying the brisk morning weather, and learning more about our role as treaty people as we discussed Treaty 7 Day on September 22.  We are enjoying our novel study- Chasing Vermeer. Today, Home Communication Folders have come with students and in it there is an activity to complete together. This is an opportunity to continue the learning at home through conversation, as well as give students a chance to share their writing with you.  We met with our buddy class, Ms. Axford’s 1/2 ‘s, twice this week. We are enjoying getting to know them better and showing how we can be leaders as we learn together.   Hello Grade ¾ families in Room 2, It was a short but beautiful week in our classroom. We have been getting to know each other, building connections and new friendships, reconnecting with familiar classmates, and creating our learning community. It was great to meet everyone at the Open House. If we have not yet connected, I look forward to doing so soon. One highlight from our first week was our hexagon art project. Students created colourful hexagons representing six unique things about themselves, their favourite things, and what they did over the summer. We then connected them to others’ hexagons to physically show all the similarities and connections we have to one another. It was such a powerful way for the class to see how much they have in common, and create a strong sense of community right from the start. We also did a STEM solo cup building challenge.   October 31, 2025 Hello Grade ¾ families, It was great to be back together again as a classroom community. We have been settling back into our routines and have been happy to see each other again. We spent time reviewing our learning of place value and representations of numbers during this short week. We reviewed it by playing a Jeopardy game. We also did a little bit of graphing today. Grade 4’s will be continuing to engage with decimals up to the hundredths place throughout the year, and Grade 3’s are continuing to master place value representations up to 100,000. Next, we will be moving into strategies for addition.  During our literacy time we continued our learning about the differences between fiction and non-fiction as we investigated vampire bats.
